Photography 101 – Photograph Looking Through Glass
These photos were taken looking through a cut glass bowl.
I used different light sources. I think it would look amazing
if there was a Christmas Tree lit up behind it.

That’s amazing how different light changes the look so dramatically. very cool!
Thank you! This was a fun project! I know I missed the purpose of the assignment but I had fun anyway.
i don’t think you missed it. i think you nailed it. 🙂
Thank you so much! That makes me feel better! lol
Very beautiful and creative! Reminds me of those viewer tubes where you look inside it and twist the end to make different images (cannot remember what those are called!). Nice job!!
Kalidescopes (not sure about the spelling). Thank you! I know this wasn’t the assignment but I couldn’t resist. 🙂
Kaleidoscope!!! Thank you! That’s what they look like. Thanks for giving me the answer 🙂 It is hard to google something when you don’t know the name of it, LOL!
LOL! I noticed I grossly misspelled it! Haha! Someone else referred to the photos as looking like a sparkler.
WordPress corrected MY spelling, got the e & i mixed up! Yes, and thought you nailed that assignment!!
Thank you Terri! I think we were suppose to view a scene through glass. Well, you’re right! That was a scene through glass! Haha!
I didn’t realize that the assignment was Glass until I saw your post 🙂 The geometric patterns are amazing — like a kaleidoscope. My favorite is the second picture: I feel pulled down into the center of the bowl. Looks like I’ll have to wash something crystal tomorrow.
I look forward to seeing your glass photographs!
Beautiful. I think you’re right – Christmas lights behind it would be very cool.
Thank you!
I like the third photo – like a sparkler! Great use of light and glass 🙂
Thank you! It does look like a sparkler!
second and third photos remind me of christmas. love it!
Thank you! Wish I had my Christmas tree in the background.
Well done!
Thank you Jeff!!
wow, they’re amazing, Joy
Thank you Cat! Thank you for viewing my post and commenting. 🙂
Wow! Absolutely stunning!
Thank you for viewing and commenting! 🙂 How’s your NaNoWriMo going?? Are you finished??
I love looking at your work! Thank you for posting.
I didn’t sign up for NaNoWriMo, partly because BIG things scare me and partly because this is the busiest, longest, hardest time of year for me. Unless they make a NaNo in March, I doubt I could do it. Or maybe when I retire.
Many people think I am doing NaNo because I keep posting parts of the Ann story. That’s just for me. Whisper has encouraged me to do Longform in December. Terrifying! 🙂
I think that is why I thought you were participating in the NaNoWriMo, but like you, that is way to scary for me! Besides, I don’t have that much to say. LOL I think you will do great in WordPress’s Longform. I am waiting til January to take Writing 201.
I looked at the photos before reading the text, I was imagining what was it. I love this kind of photo, all the details showing up.
That was a pleasant surprise actually. I was wondering how I could do something different for glass and that idea finally came to me.
Your photos are awesome! Glass is such a good material to work with because it can be used in many ways – clever of you to look through the bowl, and with the lighting, it brought to life all the little facets of the bowl. I really like these – you didn’t miss the purpose of the assignment – you nailed it!
Thank you Barb! I was glad I remembered I had that bowl.
