Thirteen years ago yesterday, January 1, my neighbor brought me this adorable little 6-7 week old puppy. She told me she found her running down the street and asked me if I would take her. I agreed and immediately began looking for her owners. (I also immediately took her to the vet and got her puppy shots). I went to each neighbor and she belonged to none of them. I even put an add in the paper and no one came forward to claim her. I came to the conclusion she had been “dumped.”
About 2 weeks after she came to my house, she came down with Parvo (a highly fatal canine illness). I took her to the vet and with proper medicine he was able save her – because she had gotten her shots.
Two years ago in November, my brother’s dog bit her in the eye and she ended up losing that eye.
This is my baby, Bria. She adopted me 13 years ago, yesterday.

Poor Bria, what a tough little girl!
Thanks Mandi! She is. 🙂
Aw, how sweet! She’s been through a lot by the sounds of it! I’d like to have a dog to go for walks but I’m not allowed one because the house is rented 😦
I’m sorry you can’t have a dog. Maybe one day you will be able to have one. 🙂
Yes 🙂
I want a Glen. I’m hoping that, after we get settled in our new home, we might be able to get one. But they are so expensive, and there’s a two year waiting list. I can dream. Maybe I’ll get a cat. 🙂 I love them, too!
What’s a Glen? I have never heard of it.
Glen of Imahl. I think that’s how you spell it. It’s one of the most rare breeds, but it’s an Irish breed, sturdy, they stand about 22″ to 25″ and weigh up to 35 pounds. And they look like a furry terrier, and they have a bark of a much larger dog. It’s funny.
I’ll have to look them up! Thanks!
I just looked it up. They are cute. The remind me of a mix of Scottish Terrier, Wheaten Terrier and whatever little Toto (Wizard of Oz was. I forgot).
Yeah! Aren’t they adorable?
Awwww, she is so cute. Coming from a dog fearer, this is a genuine compliment 😉 Bria is such a lovely name, perfect for her 🙂
Thank you. I’m sorry you are afraid of dogs.
I know, me too. But, i can admire them from afar 😀

The other day mom was thinking of getting a doggie, maybe someone nice like Bria!
Yes! She is a good dog as a household pet. She is a mixed breed and I’m not sure what mix but I suspect it is part minature poodle and part Shiz Szu. She is a small dog. She lives indoors with me and always goes outside to potty. She has to be groomed during the hot summer and I let her grow out in the winter and she has a fluffy warm coat.
aww ! what a fighter she is ! Like the owner perhaps 🙂 so happy you adopted her and I bet she couldn’t have had a more loving and caring owner. I love dogs. They are the best friends.
Thank you! She is a pretty spoiled little dog but she is still sweet. I take her with me to a lot of places. I have a little dog carrier bed in the front seat of my car. I don’t take her if I am going to take more than 10-15 minutes. Also, she goes on trips with me. She’s a great traveler.
I am visualising her in the front seat beside you 🙂 Bria is so lucky to have you. 13 years of bonding, trust and friendship is very difficult to break or forget.
Thank you! And I am lucky to have her. Hopefully she will live a long healthy life.
She sure looks like a bundle of priceless joy !
Love and wishing for a long life…
Thank you! She is. She is a sweetie. I am glad I have her to keep me company. 🙂 Hugs! xo
so sweet. love our furry babies 🙂
Yes, I know! Love my little Bria. I looked to make sure my subscriptions still say I am following you and receiving your posts by email and it is there, but I haven’t seen a post lately. Have I missed one? I don’t want to miss any.
Hmmm….. every morning at 6am 🙂
I just went into your blog from my subscriptions and I remember seeing the one today (it was early). I don’t trust the subscriptions anymore.

Jodi, do you by chance still have the email of the post of Bria? Mine got accidentally got deleted and I have not been able to find it. If you do get emails of my posts, could you email that to me? Thank you!
Hello Bria! Isn’t it sad when we can’t explain to little ones (people or pets) when something hurts them? All we can do is love them through it. Bria looks well loved. 🙂
Thank you Colleen! Yes, she is well loved (and spoiled). I know what you mean about not being able to communicate with them and how hard it is sometimes. The other day, the ice was melting off my roof and when it slid and hit the ground it scared Bria. (She could hear it from inside). She started trembling and I tried to explain to her what it was. She trembled all day as it was melting. It was sad.
😦 That is sad. Poor babies and pets!
How sweet and she is so cute! So glad she found you and how you were able to take care of her! You both were meant for each other 🙂
Thank you! She is a sweet little girl. I hope she lives a long long time because she is such a sweet companion. Yes, she would have died had I not adopted her, or, rather, if she had not adopted me. 😀 Do you by any chance still have the email on my post of Bria? Mine got deleted accidentally and I couldn’t find it in my trash. If you do still have it will you email it to me at mepricelessjoy@gmail.com? Thanks!!
She looks like such a love. So glad you were there to take care of her through her trials, and that she rescued you too. Thank you for your lovely entry 💖
Thank you! I notice other people don’t write anything on their post, but I did this one time because of her “anniversary.”
Your baby is a cutie! I would be lost without my animals. They are the reason I can keep going right now. Unconditional love.
I understand!!
A very very moving story PJ ! Happy 13 years to you and Bria 🙂 She is one brave girl, surviving abandonment, near death and accident…
Yes, thank you. She is a little fighter but also very sweet. Thank you Ady!
Such a cutie. It is so great when they adopt us. My 2 fur babies picked us for sure.
That is great that your fur babies picked ya’ll. They are such comfort to have around. 🙂
Awe she’s adorable… nasty brother’s dog! You were just meant for each other 😉
Thanks Cat! Yes, she was meant to be mine. She is a nice little companion.
Good to know that you have Bria and Bria has You. I am sure you both are having great time together 🙂
Yes, she is a sweet little dog and great companion. We are growing old together. LOL 😀
She’s super lucky to have you as her owner:)
Thank you Viviane!! That is so sweet. ((Hugs!)) xo
Great post. I do believe that pets choose owners also. Thanks for the rad.
