FFfAW – A Trip to the Museum

Robert is a history buff and decided we would travel to see the Museum of Strange History in Gargoyle, Illinois. I wasn't really into it but to make him happy, I told him we would go.

The day we left for the trip was beautiful. The sky was bright blue and the sun was out. This was a good thing because we had experienced a rough winter.

The drive would take us two days and we would stay in a motel on the way. We drove through some beautiful areas and I enjoyed seeing the gorgeous landscape.

We stopped in Ottawa and got us a motel. We had a very nice dinner at Pirate Jacks. I made several new friends.

The next afternoon, we reached Gargoyle and Robert was excited to go to the museum. We got us another motel, changed our clothes and left for the museum.

It was closed!

I certainly enjoyed the trip but I can't say the same for Robert.

Thank you MajesticGoldenRose for our photo prompt this week!

  1. LOL! Gotta just laugh when stuff like that happens ๐Ÿ™‚ And next time check the hours – haha Have to see we have been there and done that ourselves.

    • Thanks Jodi! I had written a story for another photo and found out I had already used that photo (Ooops). So I sent out a new photo and had to come up with another story real quick. LOL!

    • Thank you! I was trying to get across that the woman wasn’t that keen on going but went because her husband wanted to go and show that she had a great vacation after all (even though he didn’t). LOL!

    • Thank you Mike! I had written a story for the first photo that I sent out and had to hurry up and write another story for the second photo I sent out when I found out it had already been used. I had forgotten to delete it from my files.

  2. Hahahahahahahahaha! Poor Robert! Reminds me of the time we drove to Hershey Pennsylvania to see the chocolate factory. My husband at the time found out the actual factory didn’t do tours but they had something on a smaller scale you could tour. He was so upset we didn’t do anything but TURN AROUND AND DRIVE HOME!!!!!!! Two days of driving!

  3. That’s pretty hilarious. I’m glad the narrator had a good time and probably a good laugh too. It reminds me of visiting San Diego for a day or two before doing a missions and service trip to a Mexican orphanage. The one thing all the high school students wanted to do was go the mall and there’s this wonderful outdoor mall in San Diego. It was Friday and where we live the malls are open until 9:30 or 10:00 on Fridays. We arrived 7:30 and the mall closed at 8:00 pm. We were all frustrated, especially coming back from Mexico when we were forced to go to the zoo and not allowed to shop in the day. It was before we had many American stores in Canada.

  4. Ha! Ha! Joy, I can certainly relate to this story! My husband is a history buff and I have gone places and done things that did not really appeal to me, but we were together and he has done the same for me. Too bad Robert could not see what he wanted to make the trip for, but I’m sure there will be parts of the trip that he can say he enjoyed. And, it will certainly be a story they can talk about for years to come.

  5. LOL!! You are hilarious!!! I wonder, is there such a museum, if not there should be! Glad to hear you enjoyed the trip and the motels…ask Robert, where to next??? hehe ๐Ÿ™‚

I would love to read your thoughts...
