Roger Shipp, author of the blog, “It's All in Finding the Right Words,” has started a new flash fiction writing challenge, titled, “Flash Fiction for the Purposeful Practioner.” Everyone is invited to participate in this challenge. For more information, click HERE.
Roger provides us with the first sentence or part of the first sentence, a photo prompt, and approximatey 100-200 words with which we build our stories. The first partial sentence Roger furnished us with is, “Of all the places I thought I would end up on New Year's Eve…”This is my submission for this challenge:
“Of all the places I thought I would end up on New Year’s Eve certainly wasn't at the Mile High Bowling Alley!” Macy threw her bowling shoes on the floor and plopped down on the bench to put them on. She was noticeably irritated that Andy had brought her to a bowling alley for their New Year's Eve celebration.
“I thought you loved to bowl?” Andy replied in a higher than normal voice.
“Well, I do like to bowl but not as a celebration to a brand new year!”
Andy irritably retorted, “We are here so try and make the most of it.”
Macy walked up to the alley with her bowling ball at ready and tossed the ball down the alley toward the pins. STRIKE!
She turned around and smiled at Andy and started laughing, “I guess I'm glad we came here after all because I'm going to cream you!” (137)
