May I Have Your Attention Please?

Our Zero to Hero Challenge for today is to write a post that links to an event. I went into the event pages and found this. Earlier this week I posted some photos of the Four Corners Region and asked others to post photos of the areas they live in. Well… whatdoyaknow, this blog site has an event that does the same thing! So, please check it out and if you are interested, participate. I think it will be fun, interesting, and help us get to know one another better.

Event Type: Photography

Start Date: Sunday, recurring weekly

Description: Every Sunday I run a photo post called “My Home Town” which features a picture from…you guessed it…my home town. I encourage you to do the same, and share a link with us!

The blogging community is filled with people from all over the world. One of my joys is to browse through other blogs that show unique photos of where they live. What better way to learn about the world than through these blogs and what better way to learn about the flavor of each place than by someone who lives there and knows it?

Organizer: Days of Photographs

Visit organizing blog each Sunday for the week’s instructions

———————————————————————————————————————————————-

I would also like to introduce you to two blog sites that I enjoy.

IMAGINE! Is a thoroughly enjoyable blog with his witty humor and “satire-ic” personality. His blog will keep you rolling with laughter. Check out this post, Molding Young Minds! You won't be disappointed. (Warning: a few 'R' rated words).

In case you like Crocheting, check out Young at Fifty. Her blog chronicles her crocheting projects and shows pictures of those projects she completes. She crochets amazing things! For instance, Lakshimi the Indian Lady, Budgies, Amigurumi birds, Harry Potter characters, and HUMAN ANATOMY! (Yes! Skeleton, heart, colons, kidneys, liver….(however, I did not see blood. :D).

I hope you enjoy these blogs as much as I do. Here's wishing you all much blogging fun and success!

Scarey Story of Two Foolish Girls

Vicki, my best friend in the 9th grade was one of those friends that when we got together we could innocently get ourselves in all types of trouble. She was a fun person and loved excitement. I was just drawn to her personality like a magnet and we became the best of friends.

During the early summer between our 9th and 10th grade, she and her family moved to Denver, Colorado.

It was a sad and boring summer for me until I was finally able to fly to Denver at the end of the summer to visit her. Unfortunately, when I got there she was “grounded” over something she did, so we were “house bound”. Therefore, we knew if there was any chance that we could get out of the house, we were going to have fun and make the best of it.

One evening, we were able to get her parents to allow us to go to Elitches, a theme park in Denver. We were thrilled! Finally, freedom! What could we do to have the most fun and take advantage of this one and only chance? Putting our 15 year old minds together, we decided to try and meet some boys. We decided we would sneak out of her house and have them come and pick us up. (Did our safey ever cross our minds? Not even for a second! So foolish! Typical fifteen year old girls).

We ran into a couple of “nice” boys and they agreed to pick us up right after midnight. We were so excited!

The “bewitching” hour came and very carefully, we proceeded to sneak out of her bedroom window. Great! Sneaking out accomplished! (Her parents had no idea).

The boys picked us up and immediately took us to a haunted house. The house looked very similar to this one. Why they chose a haunted house, I have no idea. However, we didn't care. We had our freedom!

We just parked in front of this haunted house and sat there and visited with each other. No kissing and no hanky panky.

Vicki decided to get out of the car and check out the haunted house. I wasn't about to, so I just stayed in the car. After a few minutes, she and her friend came back to the car and we asked them to take us home.

Fortunately for us, they agreed and took us back to Vicki's house.

Just as soon as we got out of the car to sneak back into her house, they started honking their horn and yelling, “YOUR DAUGHTER HAS JUST BEEN RAPED!!” (Not true). Why they did this I don't know because neither one of them tried to take advantage of us. (Thank God!) Maybe they were just teaching us a lesson.

We started running as fast as we could. While we were still running we jumped in through her bathroom window and got into bed as fast as we could. We were terrified!!

As soon as we were in bed and the covers were over us, her bedroom door flew open and her dad was standing there checking on us. Apparently he had heard all the commotion outside. He was satisfied that we were fast asleep and closed the door again.

Whew! That was a close one!

When I think back to this adventure of ours, I can't believe what foolish girls we were.

Daily Prompt & Zero to Hero Challenge

Today's Daily Prompt is the assignment for the Zero to Hero Challenge Assignment.

http://dailypost.files.wordpress.com

http://zerotoherochallenge

For me, today's prompt is: “The Luckiest People.” We are to discuss the first person we encountered in our day and write about him or her. For me, the luckiest person is two people. Both of them WordPress bloggers, as we chatted through the comments section of their blogs and my blog.

The first person I encountered was calmgirl06 through her post, “If The Shoe Fits.” Her blog url is http://talesofaslightlystressedmother. I have concluded that her part of the world is in the evening hours when my part of the world is in the morning hours. I am able to connect to her quickly when I wake up in the morning and have a “chat” session with her. I loved her post picture this morning. It was a picture of her family's shoes all placed into a circle. I could “imagine” the children who wear those shoes and I could also picture her and her husband (although I do not know what they look like except for calmgirl06).

Next I ran into Kim13 through her post, “Life's Labor Pains,” her url is http://quietdesperation.wordpress.com.

Kim discusses how painful change is for everyone who experiences it. She is currently facing change in her life and as she goes through these “labor pains” of change, she knows the end result will be joyful. Kim has a wonderful way of drawing her readers inside of her emotions and her daily life. After reading her posts, I always end with the feeling of, “I truly hope the best for you.”

During the winter months I don't get out of my house very often, so my encounters will be my friends on the internet. I am so grateful for finding WordPress and for the friends I have made on this site. I also love how the employees of WordPress draw their clients into different challenges and prompts.

I still have so very much to learn.

A Post With a New Element and MAD

I am MAD!

On day six of the http://zerotohero challenge we are asked to publish a post that includes a new element. They gave us the instructions on how to download a video from Youtube and Vimeo. I downloaded Vimeo so I could embed a video from it and all the videos they showed on their first feed were pornography videos. After being shocked, I dropped that idea very quickly. It disgusts me that children can see these videos so easily. They didn't just show women naked, they showed women's private parts CLEARLY! Why would Vimeo allow these pictures to come up at the very beginning of their feeds when there are so many children on internet?

I realize that we cannot protect our children from everything on the internet, but sites like these sure do make it even more difficult for us.

Personally, I am going to delete Vimeo and use Youtube. And, if I find the same problem with Youtube, I will delete them too.

This picture is of my little granddaughter. I can't stand to even think of her viewing this garbage, and even worse, being used for such garbage.

For heaven's sake Vimeo and other video and picture sights, HELP US PROTECT OUR CHILDREN! Is that too much to ask? ——- NO !!!! ———-

I Was Lost But Now I’m Found!

Day 3: What is on my mind?

Day 4: Exploring the Neighborhood

It must have been the second day of the http://zerotohero.wordpress.com challenge that I got lost. There wasn't a topic for us to write about that day so they told us to go to the Daily Prompt and use that topic. I did for that day, and the next day, and the next.. then I went back to the zerotohero challenge post and found out these were the topics that I should have been writing about. Please pardon me for my tardiness. (I was doing what I thought I was suppose to be doing but I was wrong). Now I am following the zerotohero blog which means I have been found or maybe.. they have been found?? Anyway, in this post, I am combining Day 3 and Day 4.

What Is On My Mind? Exploring the Neighborhood

When I started blogging on WordPress I wanted to connect with other writers and learn to write better. I wanted to share some of my life experiences because I believed it would help others in their journey through life. I believed that possibly my “wisdom” or my “lack of wisdom” would help others not make the same mistakes I did, of which caused me great misery. Also, I wanted to connect with others and learn from them. (I am finding that I am learning more from them they are learning from me).

When I joined the WordPress Community, I really had no idea what I was doing and began learning (and still am) from my mistakes and my successes. I had no idea how large this community is and I was delightfully surprized to find just how much I enjoy blogging and reading other bloggers' posts. I found this community to be a new “way of life” for me, and I really do enjoy it. I have met people that I do truly love now and feel like I have known them all my life. I am anxious to meet new people and read their posts.

The WordPress community is certainly a family for me and for many others. I feel like I am finding long lost brothers and sisters. It is wonderful!

I will be exploring my neighborhood and I hope to meet you!

Happy Happy Joy Joy

The happiness and joy of a baby or small child is picture perfect of the essence of joy. Their innocence absolutely captures the embodiment of joy. Their joy isn't marred by the questions of “what ifs” or of the emotions that we all learn as we journey through our lives. Their joy is sheer unadulterated joy. Beautiful priceless joy.

Jesus Christ taught us that we must be “born again” in order to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.

Does this mean we must become “like” little babies?

I believe he means we must shed our past and ours sins through baptism and live our lives encased in His joy, the joy of Jesus Christ and the Grace of God. By doing so, we become like little children inasmuch as our joy is unadulterated and complete.

I don't believe it is possible to live on this earth and not have troubles, even if we are born again Christians. But I do believe it is possible to “turn our troubles over to The Lord” and be free of their burden upon us. This isn't easy to do. It takes a whole lot of faith. But faith is what Jesus Christ asks of us.

Babies are joyous because they have faith in their mother. They know she is going to take care of all of her/his needs and love her/him unconditionally. They are not burdened with the fears that we adults learn to have during the journey of our lives. They are not wounded by mistakes and wrong choices. (This of course does not include babies who are abused or neglected).

I wish we all could experience joy in the same way that babies experience it. I wish we all could shed those fears and learned behaviors that affect our happiness.

I wish we all could be like little children living in a world where there were no evil, no fear, and no learned behaviors that rob us of our sweet priceless innocent joy.

I wish we all could sit down together and have cookies and milk.

Beginners Luck & The One Arm Bandit

I had been to the Las Vegas, Nevado scene a few times with my husband. However, when casinos were put in near my home area I refused to go to to them.

Finally, my mother and sister talked me into going to one with them. So… one evening we decided to go to a casino about 60 miles away. I only took $25 to gamble with and was going to quit once that $25 was gone. (If you have never gambled, that is NOT very much).

At that time, the machines required “quarters” to play the quarter machines (unlike the ticketed ones today). I decided I was going to stay at one machine and my mother and sister decided to try different machines every few minutes.

After about an hour playing this machine, I finally hit a jackpot of $200. I was thrilled!! (Beginners luck). I let all those quarters run into my purse and I refused to cash them in. Instead, I quit gambling and started walking around with $200 worth of quarters in my purse. It was VERY heavy. I don't know why, but I refused to cash the quarters in at the Cashiers Window.

On the road trip back home all I could think of was, “I can quit my job and live off the casinos. I can make at least $200 a week”.. etc… etc….

Of course, the next time we went to a casino, I promptly lost my $25. And the next time… and the next time. Finally…. gone was the dream of living off of gambling winnings.

I now have learned my lesson. I think those machines have some sort of a “sensing” mechanism that detects the “newbies” in order to get us hooked into their “foxy” games “and sticky” fingers.

Slot Machines are truly ONE ARMED BANDITS. !!! R U N R U N R U N !!!!

DailyPrompt: Beyond the Pale

When was the last time you did something completely new and out of your element? How was it? Will you do it again?

Zero to Hero: Who Am I? (Good Question)

Good question! I am not even sure myself! Through blogging and writing I hope to be able to finally anwer that question, but I certainly will need all the help I can get.

I am taking part of the Zero to Hero Challenge with WordPress Daily Post. The Daily Post Zero to Hero: 30 Days to a Better Blog.

Our first assignment is to tell our readers Who We Are. Therefore, I am going to try and tell you who I am and what my blog is about.

My internet name of Priceless Joy came after many years of mental anquish and hell. Evolution from that excruciating time in my life to finally being able to experience joy, was priceless. Therefore, my internet name, Priceless Joy.

I am still evolving as far as my self esteem and confidence and still have a long way to go. Hopefully, this challenge with WordPress will help me grow and evolve into that type of writer that readers want to rush to and read and devour.

I hope to be a light to those who are experiencing darkness – the kind which I experienced many years ago.

I hope to be an inspiration to those who need inspiration and encouragement in their life journey.

I hope to be a friend to those who need friendship and a blessing to those who need a blessing.

I hope to write about my experiences and bear my soul to my readers.

I hope to flourish in my writing abilities and be brave enough to “undress” (so to speak) my writing regarding my life and my experiences.

I hope to be able to write posts that are entertaining and funny, but also have meaning.

I hope to get to a point where I can encourage others to “let their light shine” too.

Once again, I hope to gain self esteem and rid myself of all my insecurities and inhibitions. (When I think about my writing being open to anyone in the world to read, I freeze! (Yes, I freeze solid!) So, hopefully, this challenge will help me warm up to this terrifying thought.

At this moment in time I feel like a deer in the headlights. Thus, I leave all of you very lovely people with one word… H E L P!!
