FFfAW – Dream Vacation

I was over the moon! Finally, I was on my dream vacation to China. A place I wanted to visit all my life.

My first order of business was to go shopping. So many fabulous bargains can be found in China.

I walked into the shoe store and two gentlemen came over to assist me immediately. They were dressed very well and both were so nice! In fact, they even talked to me in English. I was so surprised!

I asked to try on a pair of red high heels and they immediately brought me the shoes to try on. When I put them on my feet I felt like I was in another world. A world I have never been in before.

Suddenly, the shoes became glass slippers. One of the men turned into a prince and the other man turned into a mouse dressed as a coachman. What is this? I was in the Cinderella fairytale!

I quickly took off the shoes and ran out the door!

Fairy tales belong in story books.

FFfAW – Tic Tac Toe

My best friend in the whole wide world, Larna, was X and I was O. We were in a game of tic tac toe. It was important that I win. I must win! She had a new 10 speed bike and would let me ride it if I won the game.

I concentrated on winning this game, keeping that beautiful blue bike in the back of my mind.

She wrote in her X's and I quickly wrote in my O's.

Finally!! I won! I get to ride her new 10 speed!

Then I realized… she let me win the game.

FFfAW-Saved!

I was on vacation in Mexico when I was taken hostage, well, me and about 5 other people, by three Mexican men. We were hidden in a seedy apartment on the edge of this border town. It was hot and crowded with a sickly stench.

They told us we were hostages and our freedom would depend on whether our loved ones paid them for our release. My heart was beating out of my chest. My parents were not wealthy people and I didn't know how they would come up with the money. These men were brutal.

I was curled up in the corner desperately praying for a miracle to get me and the rest of us out of this mess.

Suddenly, the door was kicked open and screams permeated the whole apartment and into the street. The Mexican authorities had found us and were there to release us from these mean, vile men. Tears came to my cheeks.

I was so relieved. All I could think of was, Thank you God for answered prayer!

FFfAW – Goodbye My Love

He had been married to her since he was 20 years old and they were married 45 years. Sadly, cancer took her one week ago after a long courageous battle.

Although he knew that death would happen it didn't make it any easier when she died. He held her in his arms, dropped his head into her chest and cried like a baby. It wasn't going to be easy for him to let her go.

He sighed deeply as they released the doves and he realized she was finally free from all the pain. For a moment, he was happy.

FFfAW – Strolling

I was just six years old when I went to the garden park with my Aunt Annie and her friend, Salina.

The flowers were beautiful. Red, yellow, pink and lots of green. I was mesmerized by the beautiful colors.

I realized I had fallen behind my Aunt Annie and I remember watching her and her friend walk, she with her bright sun umbrella.

It was such a nice day. The sun was bright and shining and the colors of my Aunt's umbrella, along with the pretty flowers, made my heart dance.

What a wonderful day we three had strolling together!

FFfAW-Old Glory

The American Veterans of Foreign Wars had a yearly project of claiming a hill to fly the American Flag. The hill preferably needed to look out over the valley, town, or city. There they would proudly fly The Stars and Stripes.

This year they decided on a hill that stood over the small city, Newart. There the air was breezy and the sky was bright blue. Together, they lifted the flag and flag pole and claimed the hill.

Afterwards, they all met at their meeting hall and tossed a few beers and celebrated their successful project of flying Old Glory.

FFfAW-Cold as Ice

We met for a drink at Manny's Bar, like we have been doing for 4 years.

That warmth you use to emit to me from your loving heart kept me close to you and in your arms.

But now, that warmth is no longer there. You are as cold as ice.

Have you found another to keep warm? One who will meet you every Friday night at Manny's Bar until you become cold as ice to her? How long will it take you? Four years? Two years?

Now, our warmth is over and we have become as cold as ice.

FFfAW-Leaving

Dear John,

I couldn't face you and tell you that I am leaving you. I'm sorry to do it this way but I know you will realize this is for the best.

We have had several great years together and I loved every minute of it. But, I realize, I just cannot continue with this commitment.

It is in my best interest to fly home and continue my education. You know my long-time dream is to become a teacher.

All I am taking with me are my clothing and leaving you with all our other possessions.

Always,

Susan

When my five year old son saw the Army plane hanging in the museum he was adamant that he wanted a toy plane just like that. I have never seen him want anything more than he wanted this plane.

My mission began to find a toy plane like this Army plane, and I found it wasn't an easy feat.

Finally, after becoming desperate, I went on the U.S. Army website and found that I could order a toy Army plane like the one he so adamantly wanted.

FFfAW-On Time

We fell in love in 2010 and had a wonderful time together going out for coffee and spending romantic time together.

One day he had to move and I was heartbroken. He promised to come see me every year on the date of our anniversary of our falling in love.

Every year since 2010 we have met and proclaimed our love to one another and then he would have to leave again for another year.

Today is September 21, the date of proclaiming our love to one another. I watch out the window and see, he is right on time.
